WOOLFELT -

A quality millinery felt with a smooth surface which is hard-wearing and suitable for everyday wear.

It is made from sheep's wool, and is shorn with no harm to the animal.

If a hat is listed as made from Woolfelt, but you would prefer it made from Peachbloom felt - CONTACT us, there is a difference in price, (peachbloom is a luxury felt and is therefore more expensive).

Some of our designs are listed in both woolfelt and peachbloom velour felt.

 

PEACHBLOOM VELOUR FELT -

A luxury quality millinery felt which has a velvety surface which is made from rabbit hair.

The rabbit hair used to make the felt is a by-product of the food industry.

If a hat is listed as made from Peachbloom felt, but you would prefer it made from Woolfelt - CONTACT us, there is a difference in price, (peachbloom is a luxury felt and is therefore more expensive).

SINAMAY -

A natural plain weave straw fabric made from a plant similar to the banana plant, most sinamay is made by small producers in the Philippines - we buy Fairtrade sinamay wherever possible (according to availability).

This straw can also be hand-dyed to colour-match an outfit, (there is an additional cost for colour-match dyeing).

PANAMA STRAW -

A natural hand-woven straw made in Ecuador - our supplier works directly with the weavers in Ecuador to ensure that they receive a good and fair price for their weaving. Panama straw comes in different qualities and weave patterns, we hand-pick high quality straws with fine weaves.

PARISISAL STRAW -

A natural straw made from sisal with a herringbone pattern through it. Parisisal straw comes in different qualities and, we use high quality straw with fine weave.

PAPER STRAW -

A natural straw-like fabric made from recycled paper, made in a factory in Asia under environmentally-aware conditions. Available in a limited selection of colours and patterns, can be used to make a large number of styles on the site - please ask if you are interested in having a particular style made from this material.
